I recently did a mini session for my husband, who was looking for some new photos for profile pictures and the like. Since we didn’t have any of him in uniform since his graduation, I thought it would be fun to go military for this one. These were taken in various spots around our small yard, which actually makes me happy that I could find nice spots so close to home!

Back in the fall, I had the pleasure of shooting a friend of mine, Sam. She wanted some fashion portraits, as she loves to play with clothing and accessories. I happily obliged, and we spent the better part of a day hunting down interesting locations in our little town to take some photos.
I had a blast! She had some great ideas, and combined with a few choice items from my own wardrobe, put together some really nice, fun outfits! I also got to try out a few techniques I’d been meaning to practice up until then, so I learned a bunch, too!
We’re hoping to do some more once the weather warms up here, since we just moved into spring here and it’s still pretty nippy at times. So hopefully in the next few months I’ll have more to show you all!
Well, this weekend was Halloween, so I thought I’d make the excuse to do some photos of my kids, since they’re so rarely subjected to being my subjects [amazing, isn't it?] So I moved out kitchen table, taped up a white backdrop, and did some pseudo-studio shots using my flash.
I’ve also decided to do photo Christmas cards this year, so I did our Christmas photos at the same time. The endeavor took pretty much the entire afternoon, and has turned me off taking photos of my own kids for quite awhile *lol* As adorable as they are, they just don’t like the camera.
I’m working diligently to get the photos from last weekend run through so watch for those to show up soon. I’ve also got another session this week with a couple of good friends, which I am very excited about. So yeah, we’ve been quite busy these days, and hopefully it keeps up - I love it!

When I do a shoot, I usually try to pick 3-4 photos to play with in Photoshop as a way to learn various techniques, and to try and imitate the “look” of photographers I admire. This particular shot I wasn’t too happy with in it’s original form, mainly because my settings weren’t quite right to get the focus level I wanted. So I decided to see what else I could do with it.
It took a little while and some trial-and-error, but I eventually came out with this. I used a couple of actions from CoffeeShop plus textures and other effects I did myself. Overall I like the look, and it was a fun learning experience.
Hi everyone! I’ve decided that, with my new site going, I can redo my blog. Hope you like the new layout, and watch for lots of photos to come! I’ve been quite busy lately, trying to get sessions booked and with various personal commitments, but I’m hoping to be actively shooting through the summer.
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend to take some pictures of her daughter & a couple of close friends before her birthday party. This is one photo from that session, one of my favorites too. She’s a tough girl t photograph, though - she HATES having her picture taken, and I definitely had to work at getting good shots without her realizing what I was doing. But, I had a ton of fun, and it was nice to get out on a warm, sunny day and take some pictures!
