Mini Session: Alex in Uniform

2010-05-01-44I recently did a mini session for my husband, who was looking for some new photos for profile pictures and the like. Since we didn’t have any of him in uniform since his graduation, I thought it would be fun to go military for this one. These were taken in various spots around our small yard, which actually makes me happy that I could find nice spots so close to home!

Sam’s Fashion Shoot

Back in the fall, I had the pleasure of shooting a friend of mine, Sam. She wanted some fashion portraits, as she loves to play with clothing and accessories. I happily obliged, and we spent the better part of a day hunting down interesting locations in our little town to take some photos.

I had a blast! She had some great ideas, and combined with a few choice items from my own wardrobe, put together some really nice, fun outfits! I also got to try out a few techniques I’d been meaning to practice up until then, so I learned a bunch, too!

We’re hoping to do some more once the weather warms up here, since we just moved into spring here and it’s still pretty nippy at times. So hopefully in the next few months I’ll have more to show you all!

Lorrie’s Lolita Shoot

In getting back into the swing of things here on the blog, I thought I’d start by showing a few photos from a shoot I did back in the fall. Lorrie is all about fun, funky clothing, and wanted this one to feature some new dresses she had recently purchased. Lolita is a style that comes out of Japan, with many sub-genres.

We got to explore parts of Fredericton I’ve never been to, which was awesome - back alleys, rooftops, and little shopping nooks.

I have to say, I was quite jealous of her clothing selections for the shoot - the were definitely fun, cute, and totally unique - and I would love to have the confidence to wear that type of clothing!

Enjoy the photos!

P.S. If you notice weird typing errors or anything, please bear with me, I’m suffering with a half-functional computer at the moment and as hard as I try, I sometimes miss when the letter doesn’t show up. I’m also working on trying to better format posts, so don’t be alarmed if they look a little funky for awhile.

Rebecca & Randy’s Wedding

All right, so I’m only now getting around to updating with photos from Rebecca & Randy’s wedding. I had such an amazing time, I hope they love their photos - I worked my butt off on them! *lol*

So here are a few more, enjoy!

Sneak Peek - Rebecca & Randy’s Wedding

2009-07-04-161-colorpopSo, this past weekend I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to shoot the wedding of Rebecca and Randy, two awesome folks who weren’t even planning on having a photographer! They did end up deciding to open the event to myself and another photographer trying to really get into the industry, and I am so thankful they did.

They couldn’t have been a better couple to have as your first wedding clients - totally relaxed, laid back, and fun. Their wedding had a very country western feel, right down to the cowboy boots worn by all the major players of the ceremony - even the pastor was in cowboy gear! It was a small, short but very lovely ceremony, and a really fun reception.

Despite the various mini-mishaps throughout the day, we were lucky enough to not get the rain that seemed to hit every other litte town around us, and everything went smoothly. I’m work feverishly to get the photos all edited for them, but I thought I’d post a sneak peek for all to see. Enjoy!

Little Pink Shoes

2009-05-31-084-vintageWhen I do a shoot, I usually try to pick 3-4 photos to play with in Photoshop as a way to learn various techniques, and to try and imitate the “look” of photographers I admire. This particular shot I wasn’t too happy with in it’s original form, mainly because my settings weren’t quite right to get the focus level I wanted. So I decided to see what else I could do with it.

It took a little while and some trial-and-error, but I eventually came out with this. I used a couple of actions from CoffeeShop plus textures and other effects I did myself. Overall I like the look, and it was a fun learning experience.

Blog Re-Launch

2009-05-31-025Hi everyone! I’ve decided that, with my new site going, I can redo my blog. Hope you like the new layout, and watch for lots of photos to come! I’ve been quite busy lately, trying to get sessions booked and with various personal commitments, but I’m hoping to be actively shooting through the summer.

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited by a friend to take some pictures of her daughter & a couple of close friends before her birthday party. This is one photo from that session, one of my favorites too. She’s a tough girl t photograph, though - she HATES having her picture taken, and I definitely had to work at getting good shots without her realizing what I was doing. But, I had a ton of fun, and it was nice to get out on a warm, sunny day and take some pictures!
